Number Settings
Configure forwarding to your cell, push notifications, voicemail greeting, display label, and how to release a number you no longer want.
Each of your dedicated numbers has its own settings page where you can configure forwarding, push notifications, voicemail greeting, and how the number is labeled in your dashboard. You can also release the number from this page.
Getting to the settings page
- Go to My Numbers in the dashboard nav.
- Click the number you want to configure.
- The detail page shows all the settings cards stacked vertically.
Forward to your cell
Send incoming calls straight to your phone instead of the web dialer:
- Find the Forward to your cell card.
- Type your cell number in international format (e.g., +14155551234).
- Toggle Enabled on.
- Click Save.
When forwarding is on, an incoming call rings your cell and you answer there — it does not ring the web dialer. When forwarding is off, calls ring your web dialer in the browser instead. Either way, if nobody answers the caller can leave a voicemail. The forward leg to your cell is billed at that destination's per-minute rate — see Receiving Calls for billing details.
Push notifications
The Push notificationscard lets you enable browser-level notifications so you know when your number rings even if you don't have BubblyPhone open in a tab. The status shows:
- Disabled — push isn't set up. Click Enable to get the browser permission prompt.
- Enabled — push is on. Notifications fire on this device.
- Blocked — your browser previously denied push permission. You'll need to re-enable it in browser settings.
Voicemail greeting
Upload your own audio greeting that callers hear when they reach voicemail. Supported formats: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC. Maximum size: 5MB. If you haven't uploaded a greeting, callers simply hear a short beep and can leave a message — there's no robotic auto-greeting. See Voicemail Features for details.
Display label
If you own multiple numbers it's helpful to label them. The label appears next to the number in:
- Your numbers list
- The Dialer's caller-ID dropdown
- Voicemail and SMS notifications
Examples: "Work", "Personal", "OTP only".
Voicemail inbox + Messages
From the detail page you can also jump to two inbox views:
- Voicemail inbox — listen to all recorded voicemails for this number
- Messages — read all SMS received on this number
Releasing the number
If you no longer want the number, scroll to the bottom of the detail page and find the red Release this number card. Click Release number, then confirm. Once released:
- The number returns to our pool and can be claimed by someone else
- Billing stops immediately
- You can't undo this — there's no recovery period
- Any unused portion of the current month is not refunded
Voicemails and SMS history for the released number remain in your dashboard so you can access them after release.
