Understanding Call Statuses
What Completed, Failed, Initiated, and Ringing mean for your BubblyPhone calls. Learn what each status indicates and what to do next.
Every call you make appears in your Call History with a status label. Here is what each status means, so you always know what happened with your call.
Completed
The call was answered and finished normally. The other person picked up, you had a conversation, and then one of you ended the call. You were charged for the duration of the connected time. The cost appears in your call details.
Failed
The call did not connect or was not answered. This covers many situations: the other person did not pick up, the number was busy, you cancelled the call before they answered, or there was a network issue. You were NOT charged for this call. See Why Did My Call Fail? for a detailed breakdown of specific failure reasons.
Initiated
The call is being set up on our end. This is a brief state that usually lasts only a few seconds before the call transitions to Ringing. If you see this status in your history, the call was likely interrupted very early in the process.
Ringing
The recipient's phone is ringing. Your call has been routed successfully and is waiting for them to answer. You are not charged during the ringing phase. If they do not pick up, the status will change to Failed.
A "Failed" status does not mean BubblyPhone is broken
The Failed status simply means the call did not connect for a specific reason. In most cases, the call went through our system correctly but the other person did not answer, was busy, or their carrier rejected the call. For a full explanation of each failure reason, read Why Did My Call Fail?
You are only charged when the other person picks up
If the status is Failed, your balance was not affected. Billing only starts when the call is answered. Ringing time, setup time, and unanswered calls cost nothing.
