Getting Started with BubblyPhone
Learn how to create an account, add credit, and make your first international call with BubblyPhone.
BubblyPhone lets you make international phone calls from your web browser. No downloads, no SIM card, no phone plan required. This guide walks you through everything you need to do before making your first call.
Creating an Account
You need a free account to use BubblyPhone. There are two ways to sign up:
- Email signup — Go to the Sign Up page, enter your email address and choose a password. You will receive a verification email to confirm your address.
- Google sign-in— Click "Sign in with Google" on the login page. This uses your existing Google account, so there is no extra password to remember.
Adding Calling Credit
BubblyPhone is pay-as-you-go. You add credit to your account, and it gets used as you make calls. There are no monthly fees or subscriptions.
- After logging in, go to the Top Up page.
- Choose from the available credit packages, or enter a custom amount. The minimum top-up is $5.
- Complete payment with your credit or debit card through Stripe, our secure payment processor.
- Your credit is added to your account instantly and appears in the top bar.
Making Your First Call
Once you have credit in your account, here is how to make a call:
- Go to the Dialer page from the main navigation.
- Select the country code from the dropdown. For example, choose +44 for the United Kingdom or +91 for India.
- Enter the phone number in the input field. Important: do not include the leading zero. If the local number is 020 7946 0958, enter 2079460958.
- Check the estimated cost displayed below the number input. This shows the per-minute rate for your destination.
- Click the Call Now button.
- Your browser will ask for microphone permission. Click "Allow" to proceed. The call cannot start without microphone access.
Understanding the Dialer
The Dialer page has several parts:
- Country selector dropdown — A searchable list of 82 countries with their dialing codes and flags.
- Phone number input — Where you type the number you want to call. You can type directly or use the dial pad.
- Dial pad — An on-screen number pad, useful on touchscreen devices.
- Estimated cost display — Shows the per-minute rate for your selected destination before you place the call.
- Call button — Starts the call. It is disabled until you enter a valid number.
Microphone Access
The first time you make a call, your browser will show a permission popup asking to use your microphone. You must click "Allow" for the call to work. BubblyPhone is a voice calling service, so microphone access is required.
If you accidentally clicked "Block," you can fix this by clicking the lock or settings icon in your browser's address bar and changing the microphone permission back to "Allow."
BubblyPhone cannot call emergency numbers such as 911, 999, or 112. If you need emergency services, use a regular phone or mobile device.
