My Numbers — What it is and what you can do
Overview of dedicated US phone numbers on BubblyPhone. Pricing, what you can do, who it is for, and the things deliberately not supported in this version.
A My Number is your own dedicated US phone number on BubblyPhone. Once you claim one, it becomes yours — people can call it, text it, and you can place outbound calls showing it as your caller ID. Everything happens in your browser, no SIM card or app required.
What it costs
A dedicated US number costs:
- $3 setup — one-time fee when you first claim the number
- $3/month — recurring rental, billed automatically from your balance
- Per-minute rates for outbound calls (standard rate sheet)
- Per-minute rates for inbound calls when answered or forwarded
- Receiving SMS is included — no per-message fee
At purchase, $6 is debited up front ($3 setup + $3 first month). The next $3 charge happens 30 days later. See My Numbers Billing for the full lifecycle, low-balance warnings, and what happens if your balance runs out.
What you can do with it
- Receive calls. When someone dials your number, your browser rings and a push notification fires on whatever device you've enabled it on. If you don't answer, the call rolls over to voicemail (with a transcript emailed to you) or to a configured cell number. How inbound calls work
- Receive text messages. OTP codes, verification messages, and marketing texts arrive in your dashboard inbox and (optionally) your email. Great for signing up to services that require a US number. How inbound SMS works
- Place outbound callsshowing your number as caller ID. The Dialer's caller-ID dropdown lets you pick which of your owned numbers to call from on a per-call basis. Making outbound calls
- Voicemail with transcripts. Missed calls leave a recording. We automatically transcribe it and email you. You can also upload a custom greeting. Voicemail features
- Forward to your cell.If you don't pick up in your browser, optionally ring your cell number too. Whichever leg answers first wins.
What you can't do (yet)
Some things are deliberately out of scope for this version:
- Send SMS — only receiving works today. Texting back is not supported.
- Send/receive picture messages (MMS) — text only.
- Toll-free numbers (1-800) — local US numbers only.
- Number porting in or out — you can buy and release, but cannot transfer existing numbers.
- Mobile apps — the iOS and Android apps don't yet support My Numbers. Coming later.
Who it's for
A My Number is useful if you want:
- A US presence for business — so US callers can reach you on a local number
- A separate number for online sign-ups so your real number doesn't leak
- To receive OTP codes and verification SMS for US-only services
- A simple browser-based softphone for receiving calls without a SIM card
