Globfone Alternative — 5 Services That Actually Work (2026)
Globfone calls suspended since July 2025. Users report spam after using it. Here are 5 reliable alternatives for browser-based calling — from free to $0.006/min.
Globfone still works, barely: free calls need a verified account and run on small daily credits, and the best Globfone alternatives are BubblyPhone for browser calls to any phone from $0.02/min, WhatsApp or Viber for free app-to-app calls, and Google Voice for free US/Canada calls. Users also report Globfone calls that never connect.
If you're looking for a Globfone alternative that actually works, here's what's available — from free to incredibly cheap.
What's Wrong with Globfone?
1. Calls Suspended to Most Countries
Since July 16, 2025, Globfone's own status page admits: "We're currently experiencing a temporary unavailability of our Calls service in certain countries." The reason? "Accounts suspensions imposed by our upstream providers" due to misuse. Only a handful of countries (US, Canada, Australia, India with limited slots, Mexico, Bangladesh) have been restored. Calls to most of Europe, Africa, and Asia don't work.
2. Spam Calls After Using Globfone
Multiple users on Trustpilot report receiving spam calls immediately after testing Globfone. One UK user wrote: "I used it once to test-call my phone. Shortly after, I started receiving spam calls. This had never happened before on this number. The timing isn't a coincidence." This suggests phone numbers entered into Globfone may be shared or sold.
3. Trust and Registration Concerns
Investigations have found that Globfone uses the same registration details as Call2Friends (another free calling site), is not registered with UK Companies House despite listing a UK address, and uses stock photos for "happy user" testimonials. Scamadviser flags the site as potentially unsafe.
4. "Works Once in 100 Times"
Even when the service is "available," reliability is poor. Trustpilot reviews include: "Works only once in 100 time", "There are no calls, no matter how many times you try", and "It does not work, sent a test text. It seems like a scam to get data."

Which Alternative Should You Use?
"I used Globfone because I don't want to install an app"
BubblyPhone — same browser-based concept as Globfone, but it actually connects calls. Rates from $0.02/min. No app download, no spam, no stock-photo testimonials.
"I want truly free calls, not 'free with asterisks'"
WhatsApp, Viber, or Messenger — genuinely free, unlimited, and the person you're calling probably already has one of these. No browser tricks, no daily limits. Only need one short call to a real number? See what a 5 minute free call really gets you.
"I need to call US or Canadian numbers for free"
Google Voice — free calls to any US/Canada number. Reliable, no ads, backed by Google. Requires a Google account and US number to sign up.
"I'm worried about privacy after using Globfone"
If you entered your phone number on Globfone and started receiving spam, consider using a spam call blocker app. For future calls, use BubblyPhone — your personal number is never shared with the recipient or third parties.
Is Globfone Safe?
We'd be cautious. Here are the red flags:
- Spam reports — multiple users report receiving spam calls after entering their number on Globfone
- Fake company details — listed UK address doesn't match UK Companies House records, same details as Call2Friends
- Stock photo testimonials — the "happy user" photos on the site come from Shutterstock
- Scamadviser warning — flagged as potentially unsafe
- Service suspended since July 2025 — most countries still don't work 9+ months later
Globfone isn't necessarily stealing credit card numbers, but entering your phone number on the platform carries risk. The combination of fake company details, spam reports, and a service that barely functions suggests you're better off using any of the alternatives listed above.
